cousins' trip: las vegas

My grandma surprised us girls with a HUGE trip to Las Vegas. She flew out our cousin Kam from California to join us, and it was so much fun to see her! Grandma left pretty much everything a surprise. We only knew we were going to Vegas for 4 days, and that we were going to some shows, but that was it. We picked up Kam from the airport, and then headed to our hotel. We stayed at the South Point, and it was such a fun hotel! One of the things we couldn't stop laughing about was the fact that Syd had to carry her laundry basket (which she packed all her stuff in) throughout the Casino, before getting into the hotel.

We had a great view of the pool which was super fun! One of the cool things about the rooms, is the windows are mirrored! It made for some really awesome dance parties...

After we checked in, it was about 10, so we went out for brunch at the Black Bear Diner. It was such a cute place! They have such good food, and our waitress was the cutest!!

After eating, we went shopping at an outlet mall nearby to get grandma some new shoes. Bryn also found some cute jeans and Kam got some hair scrunchies for her friends' Christmas gifts. After shopping we went to Chili's for an early dinner around 4:30. We had so much fun, and went to the hotel to just hang out and goof off.

The next morning we were joined by Scotty and Tyty. We were so excited to have them join in on all the fun, and craziness. We helped them bring their stuff up to the rooms, and then Granny surprised us with the emails about the shows we would be going to.

We thought we were going to see Donny & Marie, as well as Mat Franco. But little did we know that we were going to go see O and Michael Jackson One by Cirque du Soleil!! We were so excited and couldn't wait to go to O later that night! We finished getting ready, and were off!

We stopped at Target to buy a few snacks in between meals, and got Chick-fil-A. Then we headed to the Bellagio to pick up our tickets for the show, and then explored before the show had started. The Bellagio was decorated for Christmas, and had polar bears and gift boxes made with flowers! They also had a huge Christmas tree that was really fun and festive.

We then continued our adventure and tried to find the Wedding Chapel, but had no luck. Instead we found some fun artwork, and then headed back to get to the show.  They had these really fun paper flowers along the ceiling as we passed the shops and headed to the O Theater.

We then got to the show which was AMAZING! It was humorous, fun, and just mesmerizing. If you were to ask Syd, she'd tell you I wasn't breathing for most of the show. It was just too cool!

After the show, we all had to go to the bathroom. We headed to the one back by the Wedding Chapel since we thought it may be less busy. We then went out and looked at the pool, and stopped to get some gelato which was really yummy!

After we ate, we quickly went to go watch the fountains which was super fun! After that we came home and hung out at the hotel, ate some snacks, and played games.

The next day, we shopped till we dropped! We went to the Fashion Show Mall, and I'm pretty sure it has every store imaginable! It was so much fun. One of the coolest parts was they would have an actual fashion show in the middle of the mall! It was awesome! We ate lunch at California Pizza Kitchen, and poor Bryn had ordered some really spicy peppers. It was funny for everyone else to watch her eat them, but soon we felt bad when she had tears running down her face because they were so spicy! We did a bit more shopping, and then got Jamba Juice smoothies before we left.

After shopping, we headed to the hotel and dropped off our stuff. We then decided to get back in the car after a while and head to Mandalay Bay to get the tickets for Michael Jackson's One. We then explored Mandalay Bay for a bit, but we were pretty tired. So we actually ended up sitting down and playing Psych! together until we had to be at the show.

We got into the theater and were "attacked" by paparazzi. At first, we were all thrown off. But didn't think much of it. We then got into the theater and realized my Grandma misheard what time we needed to get there. We ended up arriving about 30 minutes earlier than we needed to, but it was alright. We passed the time by talking and just hanging out. All of a sudden I see a picture of Bryn on the side of the theater. A bit later, we found Syd's picture too! They were the pictures from the paparazzi! They used the pictures as magazine covers they put on the side screens before the show. That definitely helped pass time before the show started!

The show was so much fun! They played all of Michael Jackson's greatest hits, and had such a creative story line! It really was a lot of fun, and the show had a really great message. I would definitely see this over and over again if I could! We headed back to the hotel, where Granny shared a cute thought about us as babies and kids. She talked about how much she loved seeing us grow up, and then gave us a little gift. Of course she gave us Altoids (she's had them in her purse for as long as I can remember!) and a cute sign that says "You are Loved."

This trip was so much fun! I couldn't have asked for a better time with everyone. We laughed, we cried, and we partied. We loved every minute of being together. It's bittersweet to think that we are all growing up and starting to go our different ways in life. We have done everything together, and have been the best of friends. I can't imagine life without my cousins. Life is starting to get crazy, but I can't wait to see what's coming everyone's way!

merry christmas!

I hope you all had a great Christmas! Our Christmas Eve started with a visit from Santa Claus. All of the kids were so excited to visit with Santa that morning and give him their last requests before he left to take presents.

Later that night, we went for a drive up this hill by the old airport. It has such a beautiful view of the city, and it was so fun to see all of the lights! While we were there we could see that the Red Hills Desert Garden had Christmas lights, so we drove by. It was really fun to walk around as a family and look at all the fun and different Christmas lights and decorations they had. One of our favorite things we did, was sit on the swing benches. We had so much fun, and I think the other people who were there weren't happy about how loud we were being.

On Christmas morning, we all woke up to exchange our "Secret Santa" presents. These gifts are some of our favorites to give, since we drew their names and had to find them a gift with only a week and half before Christmas. I had my dad this year, so I got him some random flavored snacks and a funny shirt. Brynlee and Sofie went above and beyond and actually bought gifts for everybody this year!

After we opened our Secret Santa gifts and our stockings, we went over to our grandma and grandpa's for breakfast burritos. After we ate breakfast, we opened our presents from Santa, and gave our grandparents their presents. I was so excited to give my grandpa his present! I had put together a book with pictures from our trip to Europe in 2016, with my journal entries. He has been begging for this book since we got off the airplane, and was very excited to finally have it in his hands. (There's an online version here if you'd like to see it.)

One of my favorite Christmas presents was when my roommate Jenna surprised me. She flew down to sleepover and spend the next day with me, instead of going to Hawaii. I seriously couldn't believe that she would give up such a fun vacation to be with me. She's seriously the cutest and I don't know what I'd do without her!!
