thanksgiving break

For Thanksgiving this year, I joined my family on an adventure down to Arizona. We were super excited to visit friends and family that lived there (and not to mention the nicer weather). We hopped in our rental car and began the journey down south, and we actually had a lot of fun, despite waking up WAY too early. While we were driving, we passed by a building that caught our eye.

It turns out that it was right next to an amazing cave! The cave was once a bar and dance hall, but is now a really awesome history museum! The owner was the granddaughter of the man who discovered many artifacts and started the dance hall. We had so much fun adventuring through the cave, but my favorite part...

...was the puppy.

Just kidding. (Not really though. He was SO cute.) We explored through the rest of the cave to find the bar, as well as amazing Utah artifacts.

The coolest part was the dance hall! They had a black-light, and had put glow in the dark paint all over the walls. They even had really cool rocks that could glow in the dark--most were found in Utah and surrounding states.

We hopped back in the car for the rest of the drive. We sang a lot of songs, talked, played games like "Most Likely To.." (amongst others), and took lots of naps.

We were so excited once we finally made it to our Uncle Dan and Aunt Rosa's cute little home. Their home is the CUTEST little place, far from town. It is like a cabin resort. We loved it! We also loved that they had two dogs we could play with. We never stopped laughing and loved every second with them.

The next morning Dan made us his breakfast burritos, and let me tell ya--they are SO GOOD, and SO EASY to make. After breakfast it was time to get warm for a "country-side ride along."

But first...we had to get a little goofy. Trust Preston to bring the laughs. Dan and Rosa have a costume closet for their grandkids with fun outfits they can where while riding. We started off by finding a wig, and then a maid's dress, and jokingly we told Bubba to wear it. But if you know Preston, than you know he isn't shy and will do anything to make us laugh.

After this goofball got dressed again, we went off and rode around on 4-wheelers and side-by-sides. It was so pretty!

Later that night we went to visit my Great-Grandma Lewis, and my Grandma and Grandpa Wilson in Mesa. We joined them for desert and had so much fun catching up with them and sharing stories about my dad and grandma growing up.

After that, we went to our family friends-the Garbetts. I don't know how, but somehow 4 out of 5 us got convinced to jump in their pool. I thought it would be a lot warmer than it was, but hey- it was pretty fun.

Thanksgiving day finally came, and we had so much fun prepping for the big dinner. Everything turned out so yummy. I thought this would be the first time I didn't overeat, but then they brought the pie out...and I've never felt so fat.

The final days was filled with Black Friday shopping, card games, and lots of laughs.

This break was so much fun and well needed. I feel so grateful for the memories I was able to make with my family and our friends. I am grateful for so much, including the ability to be happy. I'm grateful for the fact that my family can double as my best friends. I can't imagine going through this life without having them by my side.
